Our player development plan is in 4 definitive stages:
In elite golf, nothing replaces the combined power of technical, physical, and mental excellence. At the highest level, mastery in these three areas is what consistently produces winners.
Solid technical foundations are essential. For an elite golfer, a well-built swing eventually becomes instinctive—something you can trust under pressure, day after day. When technique holds firm in the toughest moments, that’s when true performance breakthroughs happen.
This phase focuses entirely on developing a reliable, efficient golf swing and a complete set of core skills. By the end of the program, players will have a fundamentally sound technique they can depend on for life.
Once a solid fundamental swing pattern is truly embedded, every other skill becomes easier to develop and refine. At the top level, great shot-making is simply an extension of great core mechanics.
Skill areas include:
Driving
Fairway woods & hybrids
Long irons
Mid irons
Short irons
Pitching
Chipping
Bunker play
Putting
Shot shaping
We progress through each skill systematically—focusing first on what matters most and what needs the most work—until every area becomes consistent, reliable, and competition-ready.
Once a strong golf swing and complete skill set are in place, the next step is transferring those abilities from the range to the course. This phase is all about performance—turning technique into scores. Training is split between the range and the course, with constant score tracking during practice rounds and local 1-day events.
To perform under pressure, players must develop on-course mental skills such as:
Game planning
Course management
Decision-making
Focus
Confidence
Determination
Pressure control
Mindfulness
Every player operates best within a specific mental framework. Some thrive with intense focus and a competitive edge—think Tiger Woods or Nick Faldo. Others perform better with a calmer, switch-on/switch-off rhythm—like Ernie Els or Sergio García.
Our job is to identify each player’s ideal mental “zone,” refine it, and build strategies that allow them to compete at their highest possible level.
The final phase is where players are tested in real tournament conditions. Our on-site presence is essential—allowing us to assess strategy, decision-making, technical execution, statistics, and mental state before, during, and after each round.
Tournament preparation is treated with the same seriousness as competition itself. Sleep, nutrition, hydration, hygiene, warm-up routines, and post-round practice all play a critical role in consistent performance and next-day adjustments.
Within our development pathway, players will compete in Andalusian Federation events, WAGR tournaments, and Andalusia Pro competitions. We travel as a focused, tight-knit team, ensuring every player has full support throughout the event.
After each tournament, players undergo a thorough debrief with their coach to review performance, identify gaps, and set clear adjustments for upcoming competitions.
We recognize that the choices we make—and the guidance we provide—can shape the entire trajectory of a young elite golfer’s career. From potential U.S. college scholarships to the possibility of turning professional, the stakes are high. We take that responsibility seriously.
To ensure every junior receives the right path and the right coaching, we’ve developed a four-stage screening process. This system allows us to make informed, individualized development decisions and support each player with a tailored, holistic plan designed to help them reach their full potential.
For the coach to be extremely effective with all students, it is vital that they adapt their coaching style to suit the unique human being in front of them. So in this part of our process we make a relaxed format interview. Through testing and questioning, we ascertain the ambitions, energy and motivation level, then we test for the students optimum learning style, visual or audio or sensory learner and for systematic or go with the flow learners. With this process we can speak and coach in the format and language that resonates with the him or her, and design a structured practice plan that will maximize results.
It is extremely important that we understand the physical status of the student in regards to the Golf Body Connection through a TPI SCREENING. We call this FMS ‘Functional Mobility Stability’, which means how physically able the student is to swing the club. Once we understand what the students body can or cannot do, we can formulate a plan for physical improvement through a targeted fitness plan. We can’t ask students to make movements in the swing that they physically cannot do, so we identify the weakness and improve them with a comprehensive fitness plan with our Golf specialist fitness coach in the Gym.
It is our core coaching philosophy when working on the players swing technique, that we adapt the golf swing to each player as a unique case. Through a broad ranging testing and measuring process we identify players ideal and natural pre determined movement patterns. If the player is encouraged to use his or her instinctive movements and the coach applies the correct match ups to these patterns, the golf swing works at maximum speed & maximum efficiency every day and under the highest pressure, because under pressure we always do what comes instinctively.
In our coaching we leave nothing to chance or subjectivity so we use state of the art technology to support our holistic methods. The screening process will include sessions with: The screening process will include sessions with:
The use of the technology is a vital part of modern day coaching which allows us to give perfect holistic advice to the players, based on facts . This is strictly for the coach analysis, the player would always receive the information in a non technical natural and sensory form.
The initial student–parent consultation is completely obligation-free. Whether in person at PG by Magna Marbella Golf or via Zoom, the prospective student meets with our head coach to discuss the academy, our philosophy, and the full development pathway. This step ensures that both the family and our coaching team agree that joining the PG Elite Program is the right next move for the player’s future.
